A VERY SINCERE PUMPKIN PATCH It’s the Great Pumpkin, Dripping SpringsGood grief. Did you remember your pumpkin? |
 |
Linus spent an entire evening in a pumpkin patch waiting for something wonderful to arrive. Our youth have a more practical arrangement: bring the pumpkin with you. It cuts down considerably on the waiting. Tuesday is combined youth pumpkin carving at the church. Somewhere between choosing a design and removing the lid, a humble vegetable will become a major engineering project. Start with two eyes. See how the evening goes. First, we’ll gather Sunday at 10:30am, with talks from Trey Pleasant and Maximus Burgon. We’re glad to have Maximus home and look forward to hearing from him. |
SUNDAY · OCTOBER 18 · 10:30AM Together on SundayMusic: Amy Richards / David Johns Second hour: Sunday School, followed by Young Men, Young Women, Elders Quorum, and Relief Society. All times in this newsletter are Central. |
TUESDAY · OCTOBER 20 · 7:00PM Bring your own Great Pumpkin. All Young Men & Young Women combined Pumpkin carving at the church Bring your own pumpkin. BYOP is the one instruction you do not want to remember halfway down the road. Come ready to carve and spend the evening together. A classic jack-o’-lantern is a perfectly respectable artistic choice. Nobody needs to reproduce the Salt Lake skyline. Check with your leaders about carving supplies, rides, and pickup arrangements. |
MINISTERING Leave room for one more.At church this Sunday, look for someone sitting alone or someone you haven’t caught up with lately. Ask if you can join them, or invite them to sit with you. A small invitation can make a big room feel friendlier. |
DEACONS QUORUM · SERVICE PROJECT A small purchase. A useful gift. The Deacons Quorum is collecting boys crew socks for the Burke Center for Youth in Dripping Springs, with delivery planned around Thanksgiving. Donation boxes are expected at church beginning around October 25, with collection continuing into November. Final dates and sock-size details will follow. The DQ presidency is organizing the drive with advisor Steve Hunt. Add boys crew socks to your shopping list and watch for the collection boxes. |
THURSDAY · OCTOBER 29 · 6:00PM Chili Cook Off & Trail of TreatsHighpointe Amenity Center Sign up to bring chili or dessert, then come hungry. Every chili has a backstory. Some also require a glass of milk. For the Trail of Treats, parents will set up seats around the park perimeter, giving children a candy route away from the parking lot and dark circle road, with more space for everyone to visit. |

COME, FOLLOW ME · OCTOBER 19–25 “Before I Formed Thee in the Belly I Knew Thee”Jeremiah 1–3; 7; 16–18; 20 Jeremiah worried that he was too young and didn’t know what to say. The Lord knew him, called him, and promised to be with him. These chapters invite us to trust God’s knowledge of us, turn to the Savior for living water, and let our daily choices reflect our worship. Talk about it: When something feels beyond our ability, how could remembering that Heavenly Father knows us change our next step? |
