Every World Cup has the moment.
A country nobody picked out of the group stage walks onto the pitch against a team that's been favored for a decade. The favorites have the budget, the rankings, the kits sponsored by three different multinationals. The underdog has a coach who used to be a plumber and a striker whose mom still cuts his hair.
And somehow, somebody slots a ball into the upper-90 in the 89th minute and the whole stadium tips over.
That's this week's Old Testament.
A giant in custom armor. A teenager with five rocks and a sling. The whole nation is hiding behind a hill, and David walks out and says, the battle is the Lord's.
He sends one stone and the giant goes down.

Youth β Summer Schedule
Young Women β Boating on Thursday 6/18
Young Women are boating with the Howardβs from 2-8pm.
Young Men β Summer Schedule Update
Heads up from the YM leaders: we're scaling Wednesday activities back for the summer.
Here's what's locked in:
-
All Combined Activities β June 24, July 22, August 18
-
Stake Clothes Sorting Activity β Monday, August 4
Leaders are also planning one or two fun teacher-quorum activities β water park run, river float, that kind of thing. Dates TBD. We'll get you info as it firms up.
So: fewer Wednesdays on the calendar, but the ones we have are the good ones. Show up.
While we're on it β help us out.
We're building a roster of ward members who can share a skill, host a night, or lend a hand with youth activities. If you've got something you can teach, do, host, or supervise, take 60 seconds and let us know.
π Sign up to help with youth activities
You don't have to be a coach to scout for the team. Just put your name on the bench.

"The Battle Is the Lord's" β 1 Samuel 17β18; 24β26; 2 Samuel 5β7
Goliath had been walking out into that valley every morning for a month, yelling the same thing, and nobody wanted any part of it. You can't really blame them. The guy was enormous.
Then David shows up with sandwiches for his brothers. He's a kid. He's not supposed to be there. He hears Goliath running his mouth and kind of looks around like, seriously? Nobody?
Saul tries to put him in armor. It's a disaster. So he takes it off, goes down to the creek, and picks up five rocks. He only needed one.
Here's what gets me though. David wasn't training for the big moment. He was a shepherd. He spent his days alone in a field with a bunch of sheep, and somewhere in those long quiet hours he got really good with a sling. Lions came. Bears came. He handled it. Quietly. With no one keeping score.
Then one Tuesday he carries lunch to his brothers and the thing he'd been practicing in private becomes the thing that saves a nation.
Whatever you're doing right now that feels small and unnoticed β you're getting good at something. You just don't know yet what it's for.
The battle is His. But the sling is yours.

Floor Plan Update (Still Under Construction)
Quick reminder while the chapel renovation rolls on:
-
Sacrament Meeting is in the cultural hall. Lectern, sacrament table, and piano are near the stage. Plastic chairs face the stage.
-
The chapel, main west foyer, and west-side bathrooms are closed. So is the library, room 117, and room 114.
-
Pews and the organ are stored at the north end of the cultural hall β keep that area off-limits, kids included.
-
Park east, south, or south-west. The west foyer door is not a door right now.
-
The kitchen is sacrament prep central.
