Correction. It's not fast Sunday but it is testimony meeting. Bear those testimonies on a full stomach!
There's a moment every season of American Ninja Warrior where some 58-year-old dentist from Idaho walks up to the start line in a homemade t-shirt that says "I'm Doing It For My Kids."
The arena goes quiet. The host's voice catches. The dentist makes it past three obstacles, falls in the water, and the whole place still loves him for trying.
That's testimony meeting.
Not the falling-in-the-water part. The everybody-pulling-for-you part. You step up to the mic, you say the thing you've been holding all month, and the family of God is right there with you whether you made it across or didn't. No applause. Just amens, eye contact, and a couple of people quietly wiping their cheeks.
This Sunday is Fast and Testimony Meeting. The course is open.

Speak, Lord; for Thy Servant Heareth" β Ruth; 1 Samuel 1β7
The whole opening of 1 Samuel is a story about people who got tired of waiting.
Hannah, childless, prays so hard in the temple that the priest thinks she's drunk. She isn't. She's just done holding it in. She steps up to her own start line and asks for the thing she's been carrying for years.
God hears her. Samuel arrives.
Then, a few years later, that same boy is asleep in the tabernacle, and a voice calls his name in the dark. He runs to Eli three times before figuring out it isn't Eli. Eli, to his credit, finally tells him: next time it happens, say "Speak, Lord; for thy servant heareth."
Samuel says it. And nothing about Israel is ever the same.
That's the testimony meeting move. Step up. Speak. Listen.
You don't have to clear the course. You just have to stand at the start line and say, here I am.

Floor Plan Update (Still Under Construction)
Quick reminder while the chapel renovation rolls on:
-
Sacrament Meeting is in the cultural hall. Lectern, sacrament table, and piano are near the stage. Plastic chairs face the stage.
-
The chapel, main west foyer, and west-side bathrooms are closed. So is the library, room 117, and room 114.
-
Pews and the organ are stored at the north end of the cultural hall β keep that area off-limits, kids included.
-
Park east, south, or south-west. The west foyer door is not a door right now.
-
The kitchen is sacrament prep central.
The course is a little different right now. Same finish line.
